All About Crushers Crushers should be easy to understand: they are a machine that uses a metal surface in order to break up different types of material. Let’s focus on a few of the different used crushers that are available for purchase. Jaw Crushers Jaw crushers work by using two “jaws”. One of the jaws is fixed and stationary, while other moves back and forth. The jaws are available in either single or double toggles, and are made using fabricated plate frames that are meant to stand up to anything. The crushing action occurs when the weighted flywheel creates the motion that closes the gap between the top jaw and the bottom jaw. Double toggle jaws generally have a hydraulic feature that allows the machine to be adjusted. Impact Crushers Impact crushers are a bit more primitive than jaw crushers. Imagine trying to break a rock using the weight of a larger rock that is dropped from above. This is basically how an impact crusher works. The material that is going to be crushed is usually contained, so that it can not escape out of the impact crusher, and the used crusher uses hard impact in order to break apart the material. Often, soft material like coal and limestone is broken up with an impact crusher. Hammermills Hammermills are another type of crusher. This type of crusher is a steel drum that has hammers inside of it that are allowed to swing freely. The rotor is allowed to spin at a very high speed and the material that is to be broken up is fed into the hopper. As it comes into contact with the hammers, the material breaks up and is eventually shot out through the screens that are in the drum. Hammermills can be purchased in both a large, and a small size. Buying and Selling Crushers Used crushers are a lot less expensive than brand new crushers are. They are often a better deal not only because of the price, but because they have been proven to work and already have a history of working well. A.M.
